Day 40: Wishingwell Campground to South Branch

South Branch cabin

Distance: 31km (19.3 miles)

We put on our wet socks and shoes to continue our walk this morning. There’s not much accommodation available in this area and South Branch was the first possibility. That meant starting off our day with 6 km on the Trans-Canada Highway before we would be able to pick up the T’Railway again. But the campsite owner offered to give us a ride to the junction, making this just a 25km day, lucky us again!

We soon passed Codroy Pond, followed Crooked Brook for a while, crossed the trestle over North Branch River, and then headed for South Branch. The scenery was quite different from what we’d seen so far: we were walking through a wide valley, with mountains all around us. And without any rain, we were able to fully enjoy it!

Maybe it’s because of yesterday’s rain, but the raspberries seem to have ripened overnight.
