Day 8: Little Harbour Access Road to Arnold’s Cove

Arnold’s Cove harbour.

Distance: 19km (11.8 miles)

We haven’t seen much of the railway today to be honest: Donna and Gerard dropped us off at the Little Harbour Access Road, so we had only 19km to cover to get to our accommodation in Arnold’s Cove. And as the T’Railway runs by Arnold’s Cove Station and not the town of Arnold’s Cove itself, we left the trail at Jack’s Pond Brook and followed local trails into town.

Arnold’s Cove turned out to be a nice little fishing community with a small harbour and a Foodland store (very welcome, as we had to resupply for our next section to Gander). We had a day ‘off’ here, and walked up to Placentia Bay Lookout, from which you have a fantastic 360 degree view over the bay, the islands, and the North Atlantic Refinery and the Newfoundland Transshipment Facility outside town.
